Editor’s Verdict: Zodiac Casino

Did Zodiac Casino tick my boxes? Well, it did some of them, yes. But it’s a mixed bag of emotions for me in my overall verdict. I think if you are looking for a trustworthy place to play Microgaming slots then you’ll love it here. I’m sure you’ll love the welcome offer and loyalty rewards too, which are plentiful and creative. The dedicated app is equally good and it’s great to see a mobile-first online casino.

There are just a few niggles and I think that if you are brand new to online casinos - you might get flummoxed. Having to navigate in and out of my account to locate basic info isn't the greatest. Whereas I think more experienced players won’t have an issue understanding and enjoying what's on offer.

At the end of the day, it’s all about what matters the most to you. If it’s safety, rewards and peace of mind then you’ll be satisfied at Zodiac.

A Closer Look at Pros and Cons:

So, what are the highs and lows of my Zodiac Casino review? Well for starters there’s the platform's history in the industry. You can play safe in the knowledge that this isn't a fly-by-night online casino. Bases are all covered when it comes to security, choice of payments, game selection and hearty bonuses.

On the subject of goodies, you'll get access to the amazing ‘Casino Rewards’ loyalty club. This is a huge plus and I'm already a member myself. The perks and gifts are sumptuous and true VIP experts are working behind the scenes.

My next plus point has to be the low minimum deposits of $1. There aren't many online casinos out there that allow this - trust me.

The bugbears are the time it took to launch a live chat and get basic help from a human agent. The bot was repetitive and this service really needs to be looked into if Zodiac wants to retain players. The support was good though, once I managed to obtain it! I also have to point out that some key information is difficult to find.

If these cons are your cons too then head over to my other top-rated online casinos.

Zodiac vs. Competitors:

Zodiac is one of the longest operating online casinos, having launched in 1999. For me, it has several unique selling points, and this is one of them. All too often platforms launch then within a few years they’re never to be seen again. I also think that the Microgaming powered lobby and Casino Rewards program are fantastic pro points. Just seeing these two logos should make you feel confident.

Zodiac Casino has a strong position in the wider industry and serves up a no-frills experience. I do think that if you are looking for a modern online casino you might be disappointed here. From the outside, the platform does look quite outdated though the mobile app is highly responsive.

Above all else Zodiac doesn't promise to be anything it's not though. So what you see and read about, is what you get. And whilst there aren’t bells and whistles, you do have a solid platform to enjoy Microgaming slots.

The Zodiac Experience:

My Zodiac Casino review was a smoothish ride. Signing up, depositing and claiming bonuses were all made easy. This is thanks to an uncluttered platform with a professional approach to online gambling. My main points of frustration arose from the slow live chat process. I also had difficulties locating some of the basic info which should be in easy reach for players. These areas definitely need some improvement.

Despite this though, I did feel secure and it’s good to play on a site with 20+ years of experience under its belt.

Sign-up:

Zodiac Casino has a neat registration process that’s complete within a couple of minutes. It’s here you’ll be presented with the software to download, which takes a second or two. Once you have clicked the sign-up button, you'll need to fill in the following:

  1. Name

  2. Email address

  3. Date of birth

  4. Gender

  5. Password

  6. Address

  7. Currency

  8. Mobile number

After clicking to confirm the terms and that you're of legal age to gamble, you'll be logged in.

There isn’t a sign-up verification link sent to your email, so you can start to play straight away.

For KYC (Know Your Customer), this process can be requested at any point. It might be on your first deposit, withdrawal or another random time. You’ll need to screenshot your ID, proof of payment method and a recent proof of address. These images can then be emailed to support and I found that getting verified takes around 24 hours.

Banking

Zodiac Casino has partnered up with many trusted payment providers. There’s an impressive range of eWallets, debit/credit cards and prepaid vouchers. If you prefer then you can make a bank transfer but withdrawing this way can incur fees. Thankfully all other payment methods are fee-free.

It’s fantastic to see that you can deposit from $1. So, if you are dipping your toe into the Zodiac then you won’t need to commit too much real money. Deposits are instant and withdrawals can take up to 3 days to process. For my Zodiac review, my winnings were paid out within 24 hours though.

Overall I found depositing and withdrawing easy and I was expertly guided through the processes. The app lends itself very well to this, and screen by screen I knew what information to prepare.

Bonuses:

I enjoyed the creativity of the Zodiac bonuses - these aren't just your run-of-the-mill reloads and free spins either. The welcome offer is very appealing and gives several chances to win jackpot cash. You can claim many of the Zodiac promotions with $1, which is excellent value for your money.

The rest of the offers fall under the ‘Casino Rewards’ loyalty program. If you're not familiar with this then it’s a scheme which covers 29 other online casinos. If you're a member at one of the recognised sites then you can carry your rewards over and vice versa. It’s a highly respected program which you can join automatically with your first deposit.

Having such a large member base ensures some top rewards:

  • Birthday treats

  • VIP tournaments

  • High roller bonuses

  • Tickets to events

  • VIP host

  • Dining vouchers

  • Weekly Zodiac no deposit game bonuses

Your VIP points are based on wagers across all games and associated online casinos. These never expire and you’ll even get your own membership card sent via the post. Another huge attraction for me are the ‘Time of your Life’ sweepstakes and jackpots. These are regularly in the 6-figure mark and you get free chances to win every day.

Some of the bonus terms are tricky to find though. I had to navigate out of my account and onto the main non-player site to view them. Terms are overall easy to understand and it's good to see a generous 60-day turnaround to complete wagering.

Games:

Opening up the Zodiac games lobby reveals 500+ titles which are predominantly powered by Microgaming. I can appreciate that this might not be as appealing as other online casinos, but hang on in there. Microgaming is an amazing software developer, well respected and trusted in the industry. They are also responsible for bringing us the likes of Immortal Romance, Mega Moolah and Thunderstruck. So whilst you won’t have NetEnt, you will have a solid collection of slots from a provider with over 50 awards for its skills.

The Zodiac slots lobby can be filtered by paylines, reels and jackpots. The jackpots feature most of the Mega Moolah collection so you've oodles of access to potentially colossal wins.

Besides the slots, you can help yourself to a delicious mix of table games and there’s a section dedicated to video poker. In the ‘variety’ category is where you’ll find scratchcards, bingo and more skill-based games.

The live casino hasn’t been overlooked and there are plenty of tables to take a virtual seat at. These games are provided by Microgaming and On Air Entertainment. There are some stunning low and max stakes to enjoy. You can play from $0.50 - $2,500 per wager.

Mobile App:

The Zodiac mobile experience is solely accessed by an app which is available for download when you register. I found that it gave a glossy and smooth feel to each of my sessions. It’s easy to find your way around with responsive menus too. The app encompasses all devices and operating systems. So, if you have an Android tablet and an iPhone you won't need to download separate software.

You’ll receive notifications when games are upgraded by Microgaming. A simple click on the update button will ensure you are always playing the latest game versions.

Support:

Once I managed to get an agent on live chat, the quality of support was excellent. Arriving at this point caused me some frustration though. I had to deal with a bot who didn't listen to my query, told me about bonuses, and then hung up. I finally got through to a nice agent but it did take me 30 minutes.

Trying to find the email address for support was also tricky. I had to log out of my account and go to the sign-up page again. There aren’t any FAQs either.

Overall, Zodiac Casino needs to place some more focus on these points. It’s surprising for a site with such longevity.

Safety and Security:

There’s an exemplary level of security thanks to licensing from the Kahnawake Gaming Commission. A reputable and well-respected provider, and one of the first gambling regulators to launch in 1999. Your Zodiac Casino online journey is also secured thanks to SSL encryption. At the footer of the site, you’ll notice the eCOGRA emblem proudly displayed. Giving total peace of mind when it comes to reliable and fair games.

Zodiac was created way back in 2001 and has been going strong ever since. It surely knows a thing or two about player satisfaction. Which is why I was surprised to find a mixed bag of user reviews. But what can you expect from a site with more than 20 years in existence?

Responsible Gambling:

The RG information is comprehensive and there are deposit limits which you can add to your account. I also noticed a self-assessment test and there’s lots of supportive advice available. As well as direct links to both international and local gambling help organisations.

Locating this help though is another matter. I once again had to leave my account and go back to the main sign-up page. This isn’t ideal and help should easily be accessible to all players.
